Tools Used: Figma
Role: UX Designer
Problem Statement
Currently, the default adobe photoshop workspace is overwhelming for people who have never used the software before. How can I redesign the workspace to make it easier for beginners to use?
My Goal
I intend to shorten the length of time required to understand how to use Adobe Photoshop by giving users access to the platform in smaller increments while allowing them to learn how powerful the software is.
Process Walkthrough
1. Initial Ideas
2. Research
User Interview Questions
During the ideation phase of the project, I conducted user interviews with three different people who had never used the platform before, to in form the design. I instructed them to upload an image in color, alter the color in some way and add some sort of text. The interviews were conducted remotely and anonymously, with a series of 5 questions.
Key Responses
Person 1 “It makes me anxious.”
“Why is this so hard?”
“It's overwhelming.”
Person 2
“I struggled quite a bit.”
“I just want to edit the way I do on my phone.”
“Frustrating.”
“I want to learn but I don't even know where to start.”

Competitor Analysis
Other photo editors, though they have far less capabilities, are more catered towards beginners and hobbyists, as they tend to be less initially intimidating. Let’s compare applications which have similar features to Adobe Photoshop and see if we can implement some of that simplicity into our new design.

4. Prototyping

For the Future...
1. Do a round of new user testing with the revised prototype.2. Break the project up into sections so there's more time spent on each separate layout.
3.Bring more subsections to the main page other than the three already in place
