Kinyozi
A graphic inspired by barbershop and salon posters across the diaspora, Kinyozi (meaning ‘barber’ in swahili) is a poster I made over the course of multiple months. The final image is a composite of 9 separate graphics I create independently, and put together to make something which felt reminiscent of my time spent in African braiding shops across Kenya and the US, but with my artistic style. The work is made almost entirely from altered collaged images found online and in print, keeping the same feeling of classic hairstyle posters but with a slight twist. The final image is now printed and hung up across the houses of friends and family. :)
